Soup is not just a simple mixture of water, ingredients and seasoning, drinking the right soup will help us to embark on a healthier lifestyle. Life is already tough during the week, pamper yourself with a bowl of homemade healthy soup at the beginning or end of the day will definitely make you shine with healthy radiance.

The ingredients for soup can be classified in different colors, namely red, green, yellow, white and black. Different colors of food will provide different nutrients and minerals. To observe a healthy living, we can begin by simply adding variety of colors in our soup in a balanced way.

The colors that make a healthy soup......

Red Food :
Red Food is rich in vitamin C, carotene and lycopene. They contain strong antioxidants that prevent cells damaged by free radicals and helps us to maintain a shinning skin, robust immune system and good vision . Tomato, beet, carrot, red bell pepper, red bean, date and apple are some of the popular red ingredients in soup making.

Green Food :
Green fond is having much potassium, iron, calcium, chlorophyll and folic acid. Adults and children require folic acid to produce healthy red blood cells and prevent anaemia. Green leaf vegetables are rich in fibers and the consumption of fiber reduces the risk of developing constipation, colon cancer, and colitis . Broccoli, green bell pepper, spinach, peppermints, celery are some of the "green" ingredients for soups.

Yellow Food :
Pumpkin, corn, yellow pepper, soybean, cantaloupe, sweet potato, papaya, mango are examples of yellow food . Yellow food corresponds to stomach and spleen. It is not only strengthen the digesting system but also helps delaying the visible signs of aging, improving blood circulation and smoothening skin texture. It is a good source of β-Carotene, vitamin A and C and antioxidants.
 

White Food :
Food that belonging to this category are onion, garlic, leeks, cauliflower, white meat, chive, coriander, parsley, white radish, bean curd, lotus root, winter melon and pear. Garlic and onions are rich in allicin that can reduce the formation of bad cholesterol and hence prevents high blood pressure and other heart diseases. White food is also believed to have the ability to strengthen muscular and skeletal system of the body

Black Food :
Mushroom, seaweed, black sesame, black soybean, laver, wood ear (black) fungus, sea cucumber are some of the black food that  can be consumed to improve kidneys and immune system. These natural ingredients help the body to build up a strong defense against various illnesses including cancers and viral infections. Polysaccharides found in mushroom stimulate the production of cancer-fighting cells and inhibit the growth of tumors.
